Music publishing administration

Your songs are assets.
We make sure they pay.

Every time your song is streamed, played on air, performed live or placed in a film, it earns publishing royalties. We register your catalog with collection societies worldwide, collect what you're owed and get your songs heard by the people who license music.

Two copyrights, one song

Distribution pays your recording.
Publishing pays your songwriting.

The master

The recording

The specific version you recorded and released. It earns when it's streamed or sold, through your distributor.

Handled by Asset Distribution

The composition

The song itself

The melody and lyrics you wrote. It earns every time it's streamed, broadcast, performed, covered or synced, and those royalties are collected separately.

What we do

Full-service publishing administration.

  1. 01

    Song registration

We register every work, with correct writers, splits and identifiers, with performing rights organizations, The MLC and partner societies around the world.

  2. 02

    Worldwide royalty collection

Performance, mechanical and digital royalties, including the publisher's share that independent writers often leave unclaimed.

  3. 03

    Sync & licensing

We pitch your catalog for film, TV, advertising, games and trailers, and handle the licensing paperwork when a placement lands.

  4. 04

    Catalog care

Clean metadata, split sheets and ongoing audits, so new releases are registered right the first time and older works get fixed.

  5. 05

    Clear statements

See what each song earned, where it earned it and when you'll be paid.

Who it's for

Built for the people who write the music.

Songwriters

Writing for yourself or others, with releases out in the world.

Producers

You co-write the beat, so you own part of the composition. Get credited and paid for it.

Artist-writers

Independent artists who write their own music, including artists releasing through Asset Distribution.

Catalog owners

Estates and rights holders who want an existing catalog properly registered and earning.

How it works

Three steps to getting paid for your songs.

  1. 1

    Submit your catalog

Tell us about your music and share a link. We review every submission.

  2. 2

    We register & collect

Your songs are registered worldwide and we start tracking and collecting royalties.

  3. 3

    You get paid

Royalties are paid out with statements that show where the money came from.

Questions

Publishing, explained.

What's the difference between a master and a composition?

Every song has two copyrights. The master is the specific recording, and it earns through distribution. The composition is the underlying melody and lyrics, and it earns publishing royalties. Asset Distribution handles the master; Asset Music Publishing handles the composition.

What does a publishing administrator do?

An administrator registers your songs with collection societies around the world, tracks where they're used, collects the royalties they earn and pays you, so money doesn't get lost to missing or incorrect registrations.

Isn't my PRO already collecting for me?

A PRO such as ASCAP or BMI collects your writer's share of performance royalties. Mechanical royalties, the publisher's share and many international royalties are collected separately. Without a publisher or administrator, that money often goes unclaimed.
